So much of what we have and enjoy today is the result of the hard work and generosity of those generations who came before us and paved the way. They built the future .. for us.
Today, many of these seniors now need our help. Some may not be able to afford their medications; others may need a ride to the store or to the doctor. Some have questions or concerns and don't know who to turn to for assistance or advice, while others are just lonely. And the people who care for an aging loved one oftentimes need to take a break.
The staff and volunteers of the West Central Florida Area Agency on Aging are here to help seniors in need and their caregivers. And that's why we need your help.
HOW TO HELP US
Donate Your Time
If you enjoy working with older adults and are looking for a rewarding way to spend your time, we currently have volunteer opportunities with our Elder Helpline and our SHINE program.
The Elder Helpline provides callers with information on eldercare resources such as in-home services, nutrition and meal programs, adult day care, housing, transportation, legal assistance and more. Click here to view the current volunteer openings with this program.
SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is looking for volunteers who will counsel and educate seniors, both individually and in group settings, on such topics as Medicare eligibility, enrollment, plan choices and other health insurance programs and benefits.
Please know that we will make every effort to accommodate your schedule so that you can experience the joy of helping someone who will truly appreciate it. The feeling you'll get is like no other experience in your life.
