The West Central Florida Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (your Aging Resource Center) is holding Public Hearings for persons residing in Hillsborough, Manatee, Polk, Highlands and Hardee Counties.

Attendees will:

  • Be able to voice their opinions about what older adults need - now and in the future.
  • Be invited to comment on how local services will be funded in 2009.
  • Get information about resources for persons 60+, their caregivers and families.
  • Learn how Federal and State funds are allocated for Senior Services in Hillsborough, Manatee, Polk, Highlands and Hardee Counties.

The Public Hearing for persons living in Polk County will take place at:

     Tuesday, October 14, 2008
     9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
     USF Rath Senior ConNexTions & Education Center

The Public Hearing for persons living in Hardee County will take place at:

     Tuesday, October 14, 2008
     2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

     This event is co-hosted by Hardee County Council on Aging




The Public Hearing for persons living in Manatee County will take place at:

     Wednesday, October 15, 2008
     9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

     Bradenton, FL 34205
     This event is co-hosted by Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee




The Public Hearing for persons living in Highlands County will take place at:

     Wednesday November 5, 2008
     9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
     Florida Hospital Heartland
     4200 Sun 'n Lake Boulevard
     Sebring, FL 33872
     This event is co-hosted by Florida Hospital Heartland



The Public Hearing for persons living in Hillsborough County will take place at:

     Wednesday, October 22, 2008
     9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
     Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind
     1106 West Platt Street
     Tampa, FL 33606
     This event is co-hosted by Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind



Please share this information with anyone interested in the wellbeing of local older adults, their caregivers and families.

Light refreshments will be served. These events are free and open to the public, but space if very limited and reservations are required, so please RSVP as early as possible. (Reservations will be accepted until room capacity is met or one week prior to the event, whichever happens first.) Please indicate if you have a disability that requires special accommodations when you make your reservation.
